Festival No. 1 is in the Books!
Saturday’s successful festival at Deep Creek was a big deal for Wild Compass Rose Gallery!
It wasn’t just because it was my first festival since leaving the corporate world…it was about the people, the conversations, and what I learned along the way. And it was especially about the feeling of GRATITUDE.
It was incredible things like…
Talking to a local Deep Creek business owner after they bought a piece of my art to hang in their office, saying they were looking forward to seeing me again at the Deep Creek Lake Art Wine & Spirits Festival on September 7th (check it out here -> www.deepcreekwinefest.com);
Chatting with fellow small business owners who were also out on that beautiful hot summer day selling their wares, and exchanging tips & tricks for success;
Discussing camera lenses, detail and light with the festival photographer;
Listening to kids explain to their parents about why they liked a piece (THE most honest feedback that exists, folks!);
Learning what works, what doesn’t, and why. After all…set up timing and display layout + prep is no joke. A LOT of thought and effort goes into it initially, and then again, and again, and again. But when game day arrives, something may be broken or doesn’t work so you move onto Plan B or C or Zed;
And last, but certainly not least…feeling enormous gratitude for the friends and family that showed up to help & support me in person, as well as those who reached out before and after;
Special shout outs to my husband and dad for providing some extra muscle and protection against the wind gusts that were not to have been.
And, of course, the singular Beth Caldwell and amazing PPW Community for the incredible uplift leading up to the event!
Now…time to make more art and prepare for the next show on the 27th of July! Hope to see you at WaterFire in Sharon!
Happy Creating, Wildlings!
